In January of 2023 John Mayer began his first-ever solo acoustic tour, with 19 originally set dates. The tour proved to be a massive success, so the artist soon extended the tour by adding 13 more dates and soon after extended the tour even further, scheduling tour dates worldwide, including Tokyo, Stockholm, London, Paris and more.
The tour is unique as it’s the first time ever for John Mayer to perform his songs mainly with acoustic guitars, which is a great opportunity to hear some of his most famous hits in a new way.
On that note, we wanted to share with you the list of John Mayer’s acoustic gear used by him most frequently throughout the 2023. So check it out:
1.Martin OMJM
Guitar features a solid spruce top with specially designed “hybrid” bracing that enhances the rich, full sound. Body appointments are also similar, with a Style 45 rosette featuring a center ring of colorful paua (abalone) shell, bold herringbone around the top, grained ivoroid binding throughout and a traditional OM teardrop polished and beveled tortoiseshell pickguard. To enhance the beauty of the wood, a specially formulated vintage “aging” toner is applied and then the polished nitocellulose gloss lacquer completes the picture.
The guitar is a limited edition Dave Matthews signature model from Martin. According to the official specs, it features a 14 fret dreadnought body with solid spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, solid mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, and grained ivoroid body binding.
This guitar was also used by John Mayer to record the entirety of the Room for Squares album and during the 2001 tour.

Crafted with Guatemalan Rosewood back and sides and an Engelmann spruce top with aging toner and forward shifted Adirondack X braces, this tonal masterpiece was designed by John Mayer and created by the master craftspeople in the Martin Custom Shop.
